Jeffrey Larson, 32
I always loved listening to music. For as long as I can remember I would listen in the car for hours at a time. As a child I would read books on basic piano, just out of curiosity. I started piano lessons at age 8 when a friend of my mother’s, whom I consider a brilliant pianist, offered to give me lessons. I continued with that for many years and then I learned the upright bass at age 12. Fortunately, the orchestra was in need of an upright bass player so I spent winter break teaching myself finger placement. Even though I was sort of pushed into playing the instrument, I found that I very much enjoy playing it. Then one day, since I always loved to sing along to songs on the radio, someone came up to me and told me that I have “a lovely singing voice, the choir would love to have you!” So, I began singing with the church choir at age 14.
Eagerly, I went on to play for my high school orchestra and jazz bands. Following High School I attended and graduated from Fullerton College with an AA in Theatre Arts. Since then I've been making music for various stage productions, including Lincoln: the Melodrama. I have also been the musical accompanist for Stages Theatre's production of It's a Wonderful Life: a Live Radio Play for the past five years. Most recently, I am the pianist for the local comedy improv group May Contain Nuts.
Basically, I was discovered, encouraged and gently pushed by others to get involved with music at a very young age and I am so happy for that guidance and support because it became my true passion. Now I would like to share that passion with the world. I formed JA Larson Music to provide my music services to those who need quality music composition. I approach each project as passionately as if it were my own.
